Analysis of Landscaping and Damage
While the homeowners claimed that wind that caused the pool wall to buckle and collapse, our inspector was not totally sold on this theory. Our inspector noted that it was 25 degrees the day he did the inspection and that, due to the cold he had to leave his car running. He also noted that although he was not aware of the exact temperatures at the time the damage was incurred to the pool, that type of damage was unlikely to have been caused by wind. The pool wall had stretched and collapsed. Our inspector felt it was unlikely that wind had caused the pool wall to stretch.
Cause of Loss in Perryville, MD Pool Inspection
It was the opinion of our inspector that the pool had collapsed due to winter damage. Specifically, the pool water froze, expanded and caused the wall to burst. While wind may have contributed to the pool’s damage, our inspector did not believe that the pool wall was stretched from wind. It was most likely caused by the expansion of the water in the pool when it froze. Our inspector also noted that the pool was in such disrepair that it would need to be entirely replaced.
