Enid, OK Landscaping Inspection

While being vigilant with regards to pool maintenance is the best way to prevent a landscaping from being damaged, sometimes forces of nature outside one’s control can damage even the most well-intentioned homeowners’ pools. High winds, extreme cold, or, as in the case of one Enid, Oklahoma pool owner, falling tree branches, can cause irreparable damage that costs thousands of dollars to repair.

Landscaping Inspection Observations

Our inspector visited the property in question and spoke with the homeowner, who simply stated that a tree branch had fallen on the automatic cover of the inground landscaping.

Through the course of the inspection, our inspector made the following observations:

  • There was a tree in close proximity to the pool.
  • The automatic pool cover was ripped in several places and torn along the edge.
  • The tracks had not been damaged.

Our inspector also noted that the tree nearest the pool had a splintered section, that could indicate that a branch had broken off that section of the tree.

Analysis of Damage

Further inspection of the pool cover revealed that the cover was beyond repair, and would need to be replaced in its entirety. In fact, the only part of the automatic pool cover system that remained intact was the tracks. The cover, ropes, webbing and guide blocks (the plastic parts that feed the rope into the metal tracks) were all in a state of disrepair.

Cause of Loss in Enid, OK Pool Inspection

Our inspection concluded that the damage to the pool cover was most likely caused by falling tree branches, as the homeowner stated. The tears in the cover, along with the section of the tree that appeared to have a branch broken off of it, led our inspector to determine that the tree branch damaged the cover, which is an occurrence wholly outside of the homeowner’s control.
