Cape Coral, FL Pool Inspection
After a pool pump becomes damages, Landscaping Inspection Services visits the property to determine how the pump was damaged and if it could have been caused by flying debris. Our inspector visited the property in question and spoke with the homeowner, who stated that they had found a lot of debris that had flown around the pump area.
Inspection Observations
Our inspector performed a thorough inspection of the pool, equipment, and surrounding areas, and made the following observations:
- The pool was in very good condition and was properly maintained.
- The pump appeared to be okay, aside from the leak at the seal between the pump housing (wet side of pump) and motor (electrical side of pump).
Analysis of Pool Inspection
Our inspector noted that the damage observed is usually repaired with a new set of gaskets, but the exact repairs needed could not be known for sure until the pump is opened up at the time of service. In addition, he noted that the damage did appear to be from something striking it. In addition, he noted that he had observed the same type of damage at multiple homes in the same area, which lends credence to the theory that debris from a storm hit the pump, causing the damage.
Cause of Loss
It was the opinion of our inspector that the damage to the pump was the result of something striking it, which could have been debris from a storm. Repairing the pump is a minor job, and would be easily and inexpensively completed. However, as previously stated, until the pump is opened up, it’s impossible to know exactly what repairs would be needed.
